A residential quarter is currently under construction in Munster, encompassing both privately financed and social housing. The planning task is to design inexpensive social housing. A total of 235 residential units will be built in eight residential buildings, focusing on meeting a need for small residential units. The cubic areas in the buildings have mostly been defined in advance through specifications in the development scheme and design guidelines. A recurring element characteristic of the city buildings in this quarter is a protruding top floor in the form of a battlement. The mixture of rendered and facing brickwork facades is equally characteristic for the area. The façade design is directly linked to the traditional architecture in the Munster area.
